Fire at Radio and TV Marti in Miami, programs to Cuba continue
According to reports, a fire broke out outside the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB) Radio and TV Marti building in Miami near a designated smoking area. It may have been caused by someone throwing a lighted cigarette into a container located near the Newsroom’s windows which broke from the heat of the blaze.
Damage to the Newsroom was caused by heavy smoke and the sprinklers which automatically came on.
According to reports, no one was injured and programs to Cuba continued. Employees were evacuated to adjacent areas. Sources describe considerable water damage in the Newsroom but say that programs will continue.
