Radio Liberty Ends Russia Broadcasts - EuroNewsEuroNews reported on the ending of Radio Liberty Russian broadcasts on a medium wave frequency in Moscow on November 10.
Radio Liberty continues to broadcast to Russia on shortwave, but after the firing by RFE/RL’s American management of dozens of journalists these broadcasts now consists largely of repeats and replaying of old radio shows. Nearly all programs focusing on human rights and political corruption in Russia have been cancelled.
EuroNews report includes an interview with a journalist and former Radio Liberty senior manager Savik Shuster:

“The aim is to inform people, because there’s no free access to information, there’s no freedom of speech. Everything is controlled by the Kremlin. Therefore people need a different source of information. That is the role and purpose of the station – freedom.”
