Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) – Reporters Without Borders notes that the Uzbek authorities have dropped all charges against Elena Bondar , a freelance journalist who was briefly detained at Tashkent airport on 22 August on her return from an OSCE journalism seminar in neighbouring Kyrgyzstan (see below). Bondar was summoned to the customs department at the airport on 5 September and was told that there would be no criminal proceedings because experts had found no problematic content on the USB flash drives and other electronic material confiscated from her at the airport. Bondar was also told that, instead of civil proceedings, she was just being giving a “warning” for failing to declare this material, which was returned to her.
